Running Reuse at Round the Bays

Round the Bays 2025 wasn’t just the capitals’ largest fun run - it was a bold step forward for reusable systems at scale.

With more than 10,000 participants and thousands more attending the finish zone, Round the Bays showed that reuse can work simply and seamlessly, even at the largest public events.

Round the Bays had already been laying the groundwork. Over the past few years, alongside Nonstop Solutions, the team had introduced reusable cups for runners and a crockery system in the vendor village. The intention was always to keep pushing forward - to reduce disposables, support better systems and make it easier for people to do the right thing.

Enter FillGood. In 2025, we partnered to scale things up: from small changes to a cohesive, fully integrated reuse system across the entire finish zone. A smart system that matched the scale and energy of the event.

The FillGood Setup

To support the hydration zones and finish line vendor village, FillGood delivered a fully reusable cup system.

We provided:

  • 40,000+ reusable cups across the course and finish line

  • A crewed return station network across the finish zone

  • Clear signage to enhance return rates

  • On-the-ground crew from Nonstop Solutions to support the on the ground service delivery and keep the system humming

  • 48,072 total reusable cups and trays used

This wasn’t a closed venue or site - it was a sprawling, open-air celebration with thousands of moving people. And still, reuse ran smooth with 97% of items returned into the system.

“We thought it would be hard. It wasn’t.”

That is the feedback from event organisers, crew and vendors. The reuse system didn’t slow anything down, it fit right into the flow of the day.

Why It Matters

Major running events are made for reuse. There’s no longer any reason to create tens of thousands of single use cups for one day.

Round the Bays proved it. Reuse worked at scale, with no tech, no disposables, and no disruption. Just a system that kept up with the pace of the event and delivered exactly what runners needed - without the waste.
